Eric Burger
Dr. Eric W. Burger, Assistant Director, Office of Science and Technology Policy, The White House
Dr. Burger is responsible for the telecommunications and cybersecurity portfolio in OSTP. Prior to his detail at OSTP, he was on detail to the Federal Communications Commission as its Chief Technology Officer. He is a Research Professor of Computer Science at Georgetown University. His research and teaching covers cybersecurity, network security, high-performance & real-time interactive multimedia networking, distributed ledger technology, information warfare, database theory, technology governance, and the intersection of law, policy, economics, and distributed computing. Prior to Georgetown, Dr. Burger served as CTO in a number of publicly traded, private equity, and venture-backed companies. He holds over 20 issued U.S. Patents; authored over 20 IETF RFC’s, W3C CRs, and 3GPP TRs; and has published a number of refereed journal publications in the areas of communications, information security, business, economics, and law.
